300 Sq Ft.

A few weeks ago I came across this space and I couldn't get it out of my head! Something about this space really grabs me. I love that Nick Olsen was able to create a functional space that included a work space, a seating area for guests, and a separate space to sleep. 

When you are decorating a small space- especially an open concept or a small studio, it is important to break up the space by using paint on the walls, floor rugs, or by using furnishings- such as placing the desk at the end of the bed as Olsen did above. It is really amazing it you are able to create a functional layout how you can make a small space fully functional! Don't be afraid to use large pieces- it you choose small furniture- the room will feel small. GO Big & consider scale!

I love the color palette, and all of the small details- like the detailing on the curtains- that would be an easy project- and it created so much more visual interest. So simple to add trim to the edge of the fabric. Olsen also added some dimension to his doors by painting out the interior moldings & the dresser with its pops of kelly green would be a simple DIY!

Lonny Mag... Aug 2012

When it comes to interior magazine that inspire- Lonny is at the very top of my list. I am always searching for new means that wow me and the August issue definitely doesn't disappoint. My favorite style story was that of Lauren McGrath part of the mother-daughter duo that recently released the coffee table book Good Bones, Great Pieces. I love the Old Hollywood vibe they created by channeling Dorothy Draper one of McGrath's idols. The colors are sweet and summery, very elegant and yet fresh. 

If you haven't stopped by the new issue get a cup of tea, curl up & enjoy- there is enough inspiration to satisfy every taste.

I can't believe that Summer is already mid-way.... The days have been so warm I feel as though we are living in a tropical paradise. For the duration of the summer I want to try and eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies, drink lots of fruity summer blends, and add touches of blues and greens to my wardrobe to create a sexy Mediterranean vibe. Summer please just stay all year long!!

Green Pieces

I have noticed an influx of green accents in our home recently. I am not sure if it was a conscious decision, or if it is because we don't have a garden, but in lieu of summer I have been bringing the outdoors inside to create a more tropical inspired green space. 

Normally I have not been one to work with the color green, but I have always felt that it ads a freshness to whatever it is added to. There is something very zen and almost healthy to be surrounded by lush green accents and plant life.  I love adding a slice of lime to my club soda, or a sprinkling of arugula to my pizza- or a new palm leaf throw pillow to my sofa.

To add pops of green to your own home- place a handful of limes in a pretty dish on a tray for a bar set-up, or add a few branches of green leaves from your garden to create a rustic look.

Palm Beach Lady

I am always inspired by that Palm Beach lady. This is a lady who sips vintage cocktails by the pool, while doing her best impression of Jackie O. She has a poodle name Gigi, and a bubble gum pink coloured T-Bird. She wear Lilly Pulitzer sheath dresses and carries a cigarette holder. She laughs at the top of her lungs and doesn't care who hears...She is the life of the party.

Here is one of her favorite rooms in her home- would you care to come and hang out for a while?

Trad HOME

I am totally smitten with Trad Home. Admittedly when I first looked over the issue I was somewhat unconvinced(that it was something new and fresh), but at a closer glance I am really loving it. TradHome has something to offer every sort of interior design enthusiast. From the super traditional, to the neo traditional each page has something special to offer! I highly recommend it- enjoy the first issue!!

I am the type of person that no matter how hard I try to create a neutral palette I need color....

I picked this up at a great antique shop on Queen West. I have been looking for a vase this color- so LOVE, and hope you all had a wonderful weekeend!!!

It IS Easy to be Green- Sorry Kermit...

I love the pops of color in these rooms, this color green is perfection, it creates a liveliness and is in perfect harmony with the pinks and yellows..... LOVE!!! I want to add this color into my decor.... now I need to find just the right piece!!

Vert-I-Go

I am sooooo loving green these days. I am not sure if it is inspired by nature, by I love anything to do with green foliage or tropical prints, especially when paired with chartreuse + white. Here is one I am especially loving!! It just shows you that if you stick with simple white pieces and accent it with bold print you can have a very high impact space- Enjoy!

How to Make an Entrance...

This is the entry way of Megan Mullally's (Karen from WIll and Grace) home. The lines are so clean and simple, bu there is a lot of visual interest going on. I am not usually a big animal print fan, but I love the benches, tucked under the consoles, the hints of green and gold on a clean white wall, and of course the beautiful dark wood floors. Also if you look into the distance you can see a beautiful chandelier in the foyer!
