Portrait

One of the best ways to make a home feel personalized is to display pictures of those who live behind the walls. I think it is important to share memories throughout a home with the help of family photographs. Lately I have seen so many creative/ modern ideas of how you can take your typical family pic, and turn it into a piece of art. My doing this your home become unique to you, and it is a beautiful reminder of family for everyone to enjoy! Here are a few of my favorite ideas I have seen lately! Can't wait to see a paint by number!! xoxo

Bedroom Retreat

The bedroom has been on my mind a lot lately- and not in the way you might thing ;)
For some time we have been wanting to change up our space. Since we moved in there really hasn't been much progress. There is a lack of excitement on my part every time I look around the space, we are just making do for the time being. I would love to have a serene space to retire to at the end of the night, a place that we can cuddle up as a family and watch a movie, a bed large enough to accommodate my equality large 6'5 boyfriend! We have a large space to work with, so that isn't a problem, I think that it is difficult sometimes when you are sticking with a smaller budget, and because you are purchasing piece by piece, sometimes it is a challenge to stick with your original vision.

Do you know what I mean? Do you ever feel like you know the direction you are heading in, but you take so many detours along the way, you end up getting lost? That is kind of where I am at. I find it way easier looking at someone else's space and seeing the end result vs. mine. I have probably changed my mind a million times when it comes to our space.
I think we need to just jump in, I am looking for classic, with a twist. King sized bed. The one from above is my top contender, feminine, but the navy disguises that a little(I am sneaky like that), some pink accents, a little leopard, glossy pale blue tables, maybe a jade dresser....

Another example from a awhile ago demonstrating my indecisiveness! (Blog looks so old!!)

Do you find your bedroom gets the least amount of attention? It should get the most we spend so much time there, but it has been ignored sadly!

Here is an idea of a realistic vision of what will come in the near future, aside from the bedding that is a never ending saga everything else is pretty much ready( plus the dresser that will be painted) Here is the DIY tutorial I did for the sconces.

Here are some of my favorite bedrooms, cozy, lots of character, and totally stylin'

Urban Jungle

 Via

Today I am feeling inspired by these neo classical cuts.  Last night Blayre, my sister, anda few friends headed to a comedy show, as the weather has improved I am loving being out and about in the city again. The thought of a fabulous city always leads me to my constant love of NYC.  New York is always refreshing and invigorating, I love the energy and the constant cool vibe willing me to continue the pursuit of creativity. This months issue of Lonny was great, one of my favorite issues yet. Michelle Adams of Lonny has the most incredible view, she looks over a land of opportunity and style, and Urban Jungle.
Also, green, lavender, gold, and leopard are my new go to's, and fresh pops of pink are also catching my attention, feminine with edge- I am a huge fan of the masculine feminine vibe, pseudo Annie Hall. I am rambling  here are some images I put together to inspire!!
I am working on an idea right now that I am hoping you may all like- how would you feel about a curated shop??
One Kings Lane esque- but local?? Any Takers?? Well talk more about this once I figure it all out...
Have a great weekend!!! Game night tomorrow Woo Hoo!!

Light Up My Life

Lighting. So important in a space. The mood of a room may be instantly transformed due to the kind of light fixture used. There are so many amazing options out there, you can find fab options on a budget as well as very high end stunners- the light fixture is like the jewelry they say. So many amazing DIY tutorials as well, Pinterest is an amazing resource for style on the cheap!! These pendants/chandeliers all have their own personalities, they are all so different, but I have to say the black and white scalloped Robert Abbey is my absolute fave. Here some other great fixtures!

Lonny Mag... Aug 2012

When it comes to interior magazine that inspire- Lonny is at the very top of my list. I am always searching for new means that wow me and the August issue definitely doesn't disappoint. My favorite style story was that of Lauren McGrath part of the mother-daughter duo that recently released the coffee table book Good Bones, Great Pieces. I love the Old Hollywood vibe they created by channeling Dorothy Draper one of McGrath's idols. The colors are sweet and summery, very elegant and yet fresh.

If you haven't stopped by the new issue get a cup of tea, curl up & enjoy- there is enough inspiration to satisfy every taste.

Enjoy your weekend.

Fashion Friday + Lonny

I picked up this blouse the other day at Joe Fresh to add to my growing collection of their pretty silk blouses- with a price tage of $39 you are really getting a great deal, and you can treat yourself to something else too without feeling too guilty. This new one is a pale lilac- really digging the whole lilac and mint combination.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend. xoxo

On another note-

Much to my surprise yesterday I got an e-mail from Lonny yesterday saying they were live- so I raced over to the site as soon as I got a chance- what an amazing issue... They really keep outdoing themselves. All of the variety of this one is really amazing, from North Carolina, to Souks in Morocco- you must take a peak at the most recent issue.  Here are my favorites, now drop what you are doing, grab a cup of tea sit back and take in all of the beauty of the May issue!!

His & Hers

Adorable tumblers for your bar cart

Mr. & Mrs. towel set- so cute found here

Monogrammed linens- can't wait to get a pair one day

Custom silhouette portrait wall- You can get yours made here
I love the His/Hers, Mr./Mrs. trend- it is too cute. From monagramming , to silhouettes this is a growing trend that seems to be popping up everywhere. I would love to buy personalized bedding for our room however Bruce would probably roll all over it covered in mud- so I think we will wait a while to make a huge investment like this.
