Bedroom Retreat

The bedroom has been on my mind a lot lately- and not in the way you might thing ;)
For some time we have been wanting to change up our space. Since we moved in there really hasn't been much progress. There is a lack of excitement on my part every time I look around the space, we are just making do for the time being. I would love to have a serene space to retire to at the end of the night, a place that we can cuddle up as a family and watch a movie, a bed large enough to accommodate my equality large 6'5 boyfriend! We have a large space to work with, so that isn't a problem, I think that it is difficult sometimes when you are sticking with a smaller budget, and because you are purchasing piece by piece, sometimes it is a challenge to stick with your original vision.

Do you know what I mean? Do you ever feel like you know the direction you are heading in, but you take so many detours along the way, you end up getting lost? That is kind of where I am at. I find it way easier looking at someone else's space and seeing the end result vs. mine. I have probably changed my mind a million times when it comes to our space.
I think we need to just jump in, I am looking for classic, with a twist. King sized bed. The one from above is my top contender, feminine, but the navy disguises that a little(I am sneaky like that), some pink accents, a little leopard, glossy pale blue tables, maybe a jade dresser....

Another example from a awhile ago demonstrating my indecisiveness! (Blog looks so old!!)

Do you find your bedroom gets the least amount of attention? It should get the most we spend so much time there, but it has been ignored sadly!

Here is an idea of a realistic vision of what will come in the near future, aside from the bedding that is a never ending saga everything else is pretty much ready( plus the dresser that will be painted) Here is the DIY tutorial I did for the sconces.

Here are some of my favorite bedrooms, cozy, lots of character, and totally stylin'

Transformation

Yesterday I finished up a quick project I have wanted to get done for a while. For some time we have wanted to change out our beside tables. I have seen lots of Ikea Rast hacks, so I had lots of ideas. I wanted to do something in a solid color, and accent it with a soft gold knob. I found these pretty(not overly so it feels like I live with a boy ;), and economical knobs at Lee Valley, and for the side tables I wanted to go with an icy blue. I went to Para Paints and redeemed my gallon of paint that I got at Blog Podium. The name is First Frost the code is P5002-14, it has the perfect amount of blue that offsets the pale gold on the knob, I am very happy with the result. I am not trying to figure out what I want to do with the bedspread. I want to go with a mint I think, or a jade to accent the white headboard. There you have it- my very first Ikea hack, only took about 2 hours, was very cost effective, and created a huge impact on the overall look of the bedroom, stay tuned for more changes in the bedroom!! xo

How Sweet It Is...

Hope you all had a fab weekend! Last night we flew back from Calgary. This was one of the best trips there, it was really hard to leave. I was totally that girl crying at the airport security into her moms arms- I really hate leaving my parents... I know I am being mushy but I guess the older I get the more appreciative I get. Why is it that when we live with our parents for all of those years we can't just sit back and enjoy there perspective and wisdom? Really I am lucky that we get along so well and enjoy each others company- needless to say I had a great time with them,  and can't wait till the visits become more frequent!

Instead of the regular post about the new bedding I bought I wanted to photograph Baby Brucey in all of his glory modelling on it.... Here he is relaxed and loving the new duvet cover. It feels so tranquil in here. My goal is to create a bed that we can sink into at the end of the day, and feel cozy in as a family(Bruce too). So without further ado, here is our bedding from Superstore(who knew they did bedding- why not, looks great!), I still have to buy new pillows for my new Kate Spade pillow cases(stay tuned), and of course Bruce the model!

Cheers to another productive week ahead friends. xoxo

Bedroom Inspiration

Visualize the following...We have the bedframe, we have some art(need to build that up more... Deep Breath, Give it time).... All we need is the bedspread, which I think I might have seen at Pottery Barn a while back & we need to get that damn dresser sprayed- that will be a process...

$170.00

The only thing is that Bruce can't jump around with dirty fit or I might have a mild heart attack!

Oh yes and change out that dog for our Brucey!!

P.S. Please dont mind the terrible exposure of these pictures...

Classic is Always Best

This is always one of my favorite looks. We are definitely going to try to create this kind of wide in our new place, it is calm, neutral, and classic- I think it would work best in our space. Finally we have room to put a bench at the end of the bed- I love how the bench really brings everything together. Knowing me though I might just have to throw in a splash of color!!!

I'm Feeling Sleepy...

Here are two beds I would love to dive into at the moment. I am absolutely exhausted, today my Dad and I biked from one side of the Island of Montreal to the other, then I searched for hours online for a new apartment in Toronto, organized movers, train tickets, bought plane tickets to Italy, and rented a car! If anyone has heard any whispers of a place that may be available I am all ears!!
On a softer note- What's your idea of a perfect bed?
