The Perfect Dinner

I wanted to share with you one of Blayre's favorite dishes Fettuccine Alfredo that I made last week. It is so delicious, very rich in flavour(and calories) so it isn't something I make on a regular basic- but it is such a treat. Here is a very simple recipe that I modified slightly to better suit our tastes(and add flavour)- hope you enjoy! Make this for someone you love- I promise it is east! xoxo

Ingredients

  • 24 ounces dry fettuccini pasta
  • 1 cup butter
  • 3/4 pint heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup grated Romano cheese
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1/4 of an onion finely chopped
  • 1 carton of mushrooms
  • 1 pack of peeled shrimp
  • 5 pieces of freshly cooked bacon(to create bacon bits)
  • Fresh Basil to garnish
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese to garnish & pepper according to preference
  • 1 Lemon to add flavour

Directions

  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add fettuccini and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt butter into cream over low heat. Add salt and the finely chopped cloves of garlic. Stir in cheese over medium heat until melted; this will thicken the sauce.
  3. Add the onion, and mushroom to the sauce- begin to cook the shrimp(you don't want to over cook them), meanwhile fry the bacon.
  4. Add pasta to sauce. Use enough of the pasta so that all of the sauce is used and the pasta is thoroughly coated. Add the bacon bits to the pasta and toss. Garnish with fresh basil and parmesan cheese, make sure to sprinkle it with a good amount of fresh lemon juice.
  5. Serve immediately.

Recipe Via- I modified it a little!! You can add anything you like in terms of meat, or seafood to this, or any favorite kinds of cheese as a garnish.

This would be best served with a light dessert like Panna Cotta- Recipe found here, make sure to garnish with seasonal  fruit like fresh berries!
