Scenes Around the House: Calgary

It has been a week since we returned from Calgary, and I must say I really miss it. We had such a lovely time visiting. Morning were spent reading, editing, sipping coffee, nights were spent with family, and friends, out for dinner and catching up on old films. I adored the simplicity of it all. The view at my parents house is divine, a clear view of the mountains. Bright windows surround the top floor, allowing light to flood in. It is such a bright and restful place to be. Here are some of my favorite vignettes from around the house.

Momma Knows Best

Hey All! Today I am so excited to share with you some updates over at my Moms house! She and Peter(stepdad) have done tons of renos & redecorating in the past year, they have done such a fantastic job. I love the direction it has gone in- here are some pics! 

Modern and classic pieces, merged to create a really beautiful, light and bright space. I love the quirky design of the area rug, chunky knit, felt, that has been braided, a brand new custom made coffee table(they needed a really big one- I think it is at least 40x40) A fabulous mirrored chest is on one wall- really love the reflective surface, it adds sparkle to the room as well as opens up the space. A collection of fabulous new throw pillows, and some really fab decorative objects. This space is still in the works- more layers need to be added- but I absolutely LOVE where it is going!! When I go visit I will take more pics so I can share some of the details!! 

 On a side note I am sorry I have been so MIA lately. I have been busy as heck, and really haven't had time lately to commit here :( I will try to be better though!!

Mom is the Word

You can definitely call me a Mamas Girl. My mother has always had superb taste, and a sense of design and style. Her home is a beautiful reflection of her, and her classic approach to decorating. All of the clean lines are balanced with rich color, and fun twists. Some of the pieces in her home are that of my childhood and bring up feelings of nostalgia, others are new additions that sink perfectly into their surroundings. I think that my mom definitely had an impact on who I have become as a decorator. Although we have very different tastes, she has definitely inspired my evolution as a decorator and she continues to amaze me with her elegance.
