Studio Chic

Hi All!! I am so thrilled to have Tiffany of Tiffany Leigh Interior Design with us today. After coming across her work I learnt that not only is she a kindred spirit who loves design/decor, but also a fellow Canadian- living in Toronto!  I love how Tiffany has transformed her studio apartment into a functional chic space, full of character! A small space can easily feel wighted down, she has managed to create a bright and feminine aesthetic that feels spacious. Tiffany's blog is packed with design inspiration, mood boards, DIY projects and school projects. She is a super talented artist- can't wait to see what she does next!
For todays post I wanted to focus on a piece found in a lot of our homes/office spaces: Ikea is one of my go to's for storage, I own an Expedit- it houses a lot of my books, and acts as a TV stand in my living room. I love to see how other people style their Expedits. Tiffany has done such a great job creating a bright and airy space, here are some great styling tips- including some really fun DIY projects! Enjoy!xo

Hi Everyone! I'm Tiffany from Tiffany Leigh Interior Design where I blog about my journey as an interior design student! I'm so excited to be here on Laura's blog today, sharing how I style my EXPEDIT unit from IKEA. I feel like this is one of IKEA's most beloved pieces, and for good reason! It's so versatile, and can really be styled to suit any need and aesthetic.

I live in a tiny studio style room, so I needed the shelf to function as both my TV stand as well as a place to store my textbooks and magazines for my interior design courses. Here is the layout:

I tried to think of each cube as it's own little unit, rather than focusing on a theme for the entire bookshelf. I think this gives it an eclectic, layered look, with a bit of quirk. Some of my favourite pieces included my foo dog painting which hides my not-so-attractive dvd collection, and my DIY gold skull, but my favourite vignette has got to be this one:

That little t-rex makes me smile everyday! I picked up the puzzle in the kids section of Dollarama and painted him white. The leopard and lucite tray is also a DIY you can read about here.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I style my bookshelf. How do you style yours?
I hope you will all stop by my blog to say hello! :)

  1. Love Tiffany's style and aesthetic (and yours too). How fun that you live in the same city and can go thrifting together! Believe it or not, I think I'm one of the few people who doesn't have an IKEA expedit shelf - which is probably because the closest IKEA is 4 hours away. But I did order some VITTSJO shelving which I'm hoping to spray paint and put together soon. Love your blog!
